Dtf print resilience is tested under extreme wash conditions to prove real-world durability. In this DTF Ink Lab #05, YIQIA DIGITAL conducted a stringent 10-round hand-wash rub test on prints using our standard ink, film, and powder system. The goal was to evaluate colorfastness and resistance on slightly stretchable cotton fabric.
Test Setup
- Ink & Film: YIQIA standard set
- Powder: Standard adhesive powder
- Pass Mode: 6 Pass
- Baking Temp: 125 °C
- Heat Press: 145 °C for 5 seconds
- Fabric: Slightly stretchable cotton
- Wash Test: 10 sessions of intense hand scrubbing
- Evaluation: Precision colorimeter on a blue color block
We printed two identical designs on the same fabric, cut one sample, then left one untreated and subjected the other to aggressive hand wash with warm water for 3 minutes.
Results and Analysis
After drying, both samples were examined. The washed print retained excellent luminance in the blue block with no visible peeling, cracking, or fading. This indicates that YIQIA’s full DTF solution delivers impressive wash durability.
Powder choice also impacted performance. In stretch tests: Powder A stretched to 400 mm, Powder B to 330 mm, Powder C to 260 mm. Adhesive quality plays a key role in adhesion and wash resistance.
Why It Matters
Understanding wash resistance is crucial for apparel conditioners, sportswear brands, and print shops serving activewear. With appropriate technique and YIQIA’s materials, prints can endure at least 60 hand washes at 60 °C, making them kitchen and workout ready.
